Fuerza Bruta was my 1st (Off Broadway) show in New York. I went on New Year’s eve when I was here for the very first time. It was impressive.
Fuerza Bruta is combination of kinetic imagery set with dynamic music created by musical director and composer Gaby Kerpel. Mind-blowing visual effects were taking place above our heads; it was just unique.
Fuerza Bruta was created by Argentinean artistic director Diqui James and premiered in Buenos Aires in 2005. They appeared in various cities including London, Lisbon and Bogota before their NYC debut at the Daryl Roth Theater in 2007. Daryl Roth Theater is the same theater where James’ predecessor, “De La Guarda”, a similar Off Broadway show was playing for 6 continuous years.
Fuerza Bruta’s last performance will be on
January 6th, 2013. Then, they say, they will be gone for good. (Update on Feb 28, 2013: they are still performing after popular demand) .
If you are in New York City prior to this date, I recommend that you go and see it. You can find various discounted tickets either on Living Social or Goldstar. The normal price is $79 but the best offer I have found is on Goldstar for $39.50. It’s worth the money.
Tip: Dress casual in order to enjoy it even more. At the end there is something like a party going on with loud music and you will probably get wet! You can avoid getting wet if you want but you will miss part of the fun! I’ve seen many people asking how they can avoid getting wet. It’s really not that hard. The truth is that you get wet only if you want to and if you go in the front. If you stay at the back, you are safe and dry.
